There were many parts of roman clothing. They had the toga , the stola, the palla, and the tunic. Then there was the accesories, sandals, head wraps, belts, and stripes. The toga was worn by both the men and women. They would be plain for the plebians, or the poor and very fancy for the rich man or the particians. Saves could not where the toga, freed slaves needed permision to wear it. The rich women would wear a palla, a toga, but more extravagent. It would have stripes and belts and color. The women who wore them had a very high socail status and had their clothing made for them at weaving shops. Getting a stola was a very big changing point in a womens life because a stola simbolized that they were married. It was the most commonly worn clothing by women. The tunic was worn under the other garments and when the toga went out of style it was worn alown. It was a tee shirt that went to the knees and had a belt tied around it at the waist. The people who weren't citizens? They wore coarse shirst and uncomfortable wollen pants. It was against the law for them to wear a toga. The children wore a toga with a purple sripe on the boarder simbulizing that they were not yet fifteen. When they turned fifteen the purple stripe would be removed, showing that they were an adult. When women became became married they would wear ahorter dresses than they wore before. At traditional weddings wedding dresses always had the not of Hercules on it that was people believed Hercules tied.
